Whether she is writing or speaking, Susan returns to the experiences that connect people: loss, love, faith, and the courage to begin again.

In Hayden Manor: A Century of Hidden Secrets, Susan takes readers from the perilous voyage of the Xioux in 1822 to a changing Hayden Ridge in 1925. At the center of the novel is Alvina Holloway, who arrives at a neglected manor hoping to build a future while keeping her own past close.

The book reflects Susan’s gift for finding a personal story within a much larger history. Through the families of Hayden Ridge, she explores what people choose to protect, what they pass down, and how unexpected relationships can change the course of a life.
